OVERSEAS BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION

Overseas Basketball Association (OBA) is a non-profit organization that utilizes basketball as a means to connect and support players. Although not limited to serving clientele from overseas, OBA was born upon recognizing a need to help bridge the social and cultural gaps for Chinese newcomers to Canada. Since 2020, OBA has succeeded to help foster healthy relationships between hundreds of players (of all ages) with their peers, coaches, and families through the beautiful game of basketball.

OBA’s aims extend beyond basketball training and skills. Our mission is to provide a safe, fun and equitable environment for youth to grow in all aspects of their personhood through basketball. Through the facilitation of camps, programming, and personal-development opportunities (like internships), players also have the opportunity to learn from a highly-qualified coaching staff to master leadership and teamworking skills, skills that are universal necessities for life.

VISION

All Day We Dream About Sports

While we are still a small organization, we hope to bring more of OBA’s programming to the Greater Toronto Area. Through expansion, we can support more families to navigate what can often be an overwhelming experience when it comes to deciding which programming is the best fit, and give back to the community that has given so much to us. With your continued support, OBA aims to establish more thoughtful and accessible programming for youth, as well as developmental opportunities, like our internship programs designed to foster leadership and real-life applicable skills. We will also focus on growing our much-anticipated House League teams, where our players can compete against teams from neighboring districts, further widening networks and opportunities for you, our clientele. With that said, thank you for playing such a tremendous part in our journey so far. We could not have come this far without you—and can only anticipate growing more, and making an even greater impact with all of your support!
